  • My husband and I stayed a night before starting the central Otago rail track. I knew it was going to be lovely going in, but my expectations were exceeded-- several times. A welcoming glass of wine? Awesome. Homemade? Amazing. Cheese plate to go with? Wow. Hot tub? Beautiful sunsets? Breakfast was amazing too-- the only B and B in NZ we have stayed at that provided a hot breakfast. And all the fruits, preserves and juices were local (if not homemade). Thanks for your hospitality!

  • Had a very pleasant night's stay here after completing the Otago cycling trail from Middlemarch. Location is a 5 minute walk from the centre of town and it is a lovely old wooden house, full of character. I had come to expect a friendly welcome after staying in many B&Bs across New Zealand and the Hartley was no exception - the hosts were very friendly and they had lots of information about the local area and their own interests and experiences. Recommended.

  • We booked a room at Hartley Homestead for our wedding night and it was perfect. We were so tired and when we arrived there was a bottle of wine waiting for us and the most comfortable bed you could imagine. The next morning we had a beautiful breakfast in the little dining room.

  • We only stayed the one night on our way through to Wanaka. The homestead is absolutely charming and the hosts very welcoming. We decided to host share the bathroom which was absolutely no issue at all. All spaces are comfortably luxurious while still being elegantly functional. (Our host) made our dinner booking for us at an excellent local establishment. Then on returning (the restaurant only a decent walk away) we hopped into the outdoor spa and relished a relaxing spa under a clear otago sky. Close by the vines and the apricot tree with the lights of the home a few metres away, what more could you ask for.

  • Friendly, relaxed atmosphere in a beautiful setting. Euan was amazing, he couldn’t have done more to make our little honeymoon so relaxing. Breakfast in the morning was delicious, he took us and picked us up when we did the rail trail, he gave us privacy when we wanted it. I couldn’t have asked for more from him. The room was well equipped and very comfortable, there was plenty of space to relax and he even provided dressing gowns and slippers for us. Thank you Euan for a truly relaxing and beautiful stay. Nothing, it was everything we hoped it would be.

  • Loved our stay at Hartley B&B!

We had a wonderful experience at Hartley Homestead Boutique B&B. We were looking for a place to stay on our trip from Te Anau to Christchurch and found this wonderful gem. We stayed at 10+ places around the country and this was one of our favorites. Euan was a warm and welcome host and his breakfast was amazing. Our room was perfect and there are some great restaurants only a 5 min walk away. I would highly recommend staying at this delightful B&B.

  • The Hartley Homestead and our host, Euan, was an absolutely wonderful interlude during our recent visit to New Zealand and the Otago region. Luxuriously comfortable room and beautiful gardens, charming host, friendly and playful puppy dog (hi Jazz!!), and delicious breakfasts in the morning...what's not to love? Whether you're in Clyde for just an overnight or an extended stay, we highly recommend the Hartley Homestead. Thanks again, Euan!
